the booknook

Brighton and Hove’s award winning independent children’s bookshop for children of all ages, with a café and a pirate ship!

Located in First Avenue, Hove, The Book Nook offers books for all ages from birth to teenage fiction. Whether your child wants to discover their first words, encounter walking with Dinosaurs, explore with Dora or even unearth the mysteries behind Vampires, The Book Nook provides a wide range of stimulating books.

Set in a child-friendly and stimulating environment, the shop houses a café where parents can relax and chat over coffee and homemade cakes whilst their children play safely or enjoy their latest read. The Book Nook has excellent facilities and run frequent special events throughout the year including: author visits, book and character days, story telling sessions and book review competitions.

We sell all sorts of children's books: books for babies, books for toddlers, picture books, books for newly independent readers and even books for teenagers. We have reference books, information books, cultural diversity books, dual language books and plenty of other resources for teachers and parents.

The owners and staff are passionate about providing specialist knowledge and work closely with schools and nurseries in the area. Vanessa is an experienced English and Drama Teacher and Literacy Co-ordinator and Julie has extensive knowledge of publishing.

Come and visit us and let your children decide.
